A very simplistic story of life, love and the choices we make. The class difference in the two mothers is bridged only because the story unveils on a far away island like Mauritius, where the rigid societal demands are of no consequences as these two single mothers struggle to build a life of essence for their children. The beautiful picturesque island is beautifully depicted through the skilled narration of the author. The mothers' respective and united goals are no different to that of many mothers who strive to raise and nurture healthy and joyous children. Fortunately, and unfortunately the children's isolation from the harsh realities do not prepare them for the adult choices they have to make. Instinctively, Virginia chooses to do what is best for the entire "family" and offers herself as a sacrifice to be part of a world unbeknown to her. The end is tragic and an anticlimax to the rest of the story, it does not resonate as fatalistic love as was the case with Romeo and Juliet, it is more a destiny than a choice for these two people and you are left with a senseless tale.Product details
